Koh Samui Sports

If you want to get away from the hectic schedule of laying on a sunbed whilst on your Koh Samui holiday (and trust me, I know just how hectic this can be), there are a whole host of Koh Samui Sports that you can try out during your vacation.

Amongst the many Koh Samui Sports, you can try:

Golf in Koh Samui
Koh Samui has 4 Golf courses, these are Santiburi Samui Country Club, Royal Samui Golf and Country Club, Bophut Hills Golf Club and the Samui Golf Club and Driving Range, typically a round of golf, including Green Fees, caddy hire and all equipment required will cost around 4000 baht.

For those wanting to try something a little different than the usual Golf then Koh Samui can offer you either Frisbee Golf where you play frisbee around a golf course trying to get the frisbee into a basket at the end of each hole or the all new craze of Football Golf which is very similar but obviously involves a football instead of a frisbee.

Thai Boxing
Thai boxing is a very popular sport throughout the whole of Koh Samui and there are a number of professional Thai Boxing Gyms where you can go and either work out or train in the traditional ways of the local Thai boxing master. There also twice weekly professional Thai boxing bouts that are held in Chaweng, these prove to be very popular with tourists and locals alike.

Sailing and Fishing
As with all islands, Koh Samui is a wonderful destination to either take to the water on a sailing boat when you can explore those secluded bays and coves that can be found in the south of the island or to go fishing either at sea or inland in a carp lake.

Scuba Diving
Your Koh Samui holiday gives you the ideal opportunity to try Scuba Diving. Most of the diving in this area is done around the nearby island of Koh Tao (known locally as the Divers Island) where there are some stunning world class dive sites. Many of the Koh Samui Dive centres will take you out to Koh Tao either on a speed boat (this is usually involves an additonal charge) or by the excellent ferry service where you get some quality time to relax into your diving or if your learning to dive, some time to brush up on your theory. Once in Koh Tao you are transfered onto one of the many fully equiped Dive Charter Vessels such as the WaveRunner.
Many divers come out to Koh Samui in the hope of seeing the Whale Shark, the largest living fish, this plankton eating fish is often spotted in and around the Koh Tao area during the plankton bloom season.

Throughout the island there are many ‘visitor’ attractions that are aimed at the tourist that have a sporting theme, including, aerial walkways, rock climbing, quad biking and even rolling down a hill at breakneck speeds in a giant inflatable ball!
